In most of the cases bleeding gums is a sign of gum disease and specifically a condition of gingivitis which means inflammation of the gums. Most people suffer from gum diseases that causes largely due to high level of intake of western diet that has high level of sugar which encourage the growth of plaque on teeth leading to gum disease. The main causes of bleeding gums are the accumulation of plaque that is the growth of bacteria on the teeth.
Causes : Regular bleeding of gums can be due to medical condition of leukemia and bleeding and platelet disorders. Mainly the bleeding gums are caused by inadequate removal of plaque from the teeth at the gum line this plaque over the time develops harder substance called as tartar. Higher degree of tartar ultimately leads to increased bleeding and a form of gum and jawbone disease known as periodontitis. Bleeding gums can also be caused due to use of blood thinners, improper flossing, brushing too hard, and some kind of infection and Vitamin K deficiency.
Prevention and Treatment : The higher degree of this disease may develop into periodontal diseases. Periodontal disease is a bacterial infection which damages the gums and tissues in the mouth this disease may also cause falling out of teeth.
